April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals during several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be her last chance to take home an Olympic gold. Still confident, however. Ross was quoted on NBC Boston as saying that if you play your best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. "I'm trying to also try a little luck." Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She lived here with her mother, father and sibling. In addition to competing in various sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. She was clearly the best in the game of indoor volleyball. According to her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle volleyball player during her high-school career. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. Her skills in volleyball earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross Klineman and Ross may have begun working together in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they joined forces. It's true that she has won numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. Ross teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships of 2009. They eventually won an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC following high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross hit the beach and became a professional. Her time at USC was one to remember. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. Also, she was an integral player in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The second season of her career, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the United States by The Honda Sports Award. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001, when Ross was still an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. This meant that Ross continues to be near to her mother who passed away.
